ASDAN Courses
ASDAN Short Courses are portfolio-based programmes designed to accredit upwards of 10 hours of activity and skills development across a range of topics and curriculum areas. The flexibility of ASDAN programmes is a great fit for Goxhill Meadows and we wanted to accredit the progress that the learners are making here. The ASDAN Animal Care Short Course or Environmental Short Course. Can provide students a framework and give structure and purpose for sessions especially if they attend sessions here over a longer time period.
Through the ASDAN courses we work on developing resilience and building relationships. Learners can start the Short Courses at age 11. Using the ASDAN student books we can liaise with a learner’s school tutor if appropriate. We have learners who are on the cusp of adulthood and ASDAN courses help give them aspirations and signpost them to future careers.

NOLA - National Outdoor Learning Award
The National Outdoor Learning Award is designed to celebrate and capture personal development in a young person’s outdoor learning experience. The award focuses on 18 personal development skills which stem from six core values: associated with “safety, learning, respect, yourself, others and the environment”. The award supports reflective practice both in and on action. At the heart of the award is personalised learning. Consequently the learners themselves develop high levels of motivation, esteem, skill, knowledge and desire to learn in our environment.

QCA Units of Work
There are many animal-related units of work accredited by the QCA which can go into a student’s portfolio or evidence of work. As long as the school is registered with the QCA we can work towards these and show progress and achievement.
