Animal Welfare
Animals and Owner
We are fully licensed by the East Riding of Yorkshire LA to work with our animals as our partners when we are supporting the personal development of young people and adults. They have a rigorous initial and ongoing process of ensuring that animal welfare is at the heart of everything we do. We have an Animal Welfare Policy which is shared with all who visit us and is based upon the 5 Freedoms and the 5 Domains model which takes mental as well as physical welfare into account.
Goxhill Meadows is a registered and approved member of the Human Equine Interaction Register UK. The Register aims to bring together all people involved in the field of human equine interactions to ensure high quality service provision and create a greater awareness of their work.
The Register acts as a helpful resource for service users to make informed choices, service commissioners, funders, practitioners and anyone wishing to find out more about equine assisted or facilitated programmes in the UK. Here you can search for individuals and organisations who provide equine assisted or facilitated therapies including: physical therapies; psychotherapy; education; learning; coaching and have demonstrated that they operate to high quality, safe and ethical practice standards. Those on the Register have demonstrated that they have both human and equine welfare at the heart of what they do.

The Charter for the Horse
Welfare of Horses
The Charter for the Horse has been developed with British Equestrian to be adopted across the equestrian industry by all who have a connection to horses and equids. Under the six headings of empathy, care, respect, consideration, ethics and learning, the Charter outlines actions we must observe to guarantee the individual mental, physical and behavioural needs of our horses are met.
